# Ask a Neuroscientist × Fashion: human completion packet

This packet is the remaining human workflow. The gallery and written masters are public; none of the steps below is represented as completed.

## 1. RN recording pass
For each package, open its video/audio master. Record clean room tone, one full A-roll performance, pickups for every source name, and descriptive narration for each visual object. Do not improvise stronger causal language than the script. End with the written next-watch bridge.

**Capture:** 4K/24 or 30 fps master; separate 48 kHz/24-bit audio; locked exposure and white balance; ten seconds of room tone; one clap/slate naming package and take.
**Accessibility:** record every on-screen quotation aloud; flag pronunciation uncertainty; preserve pauses for captions and audio description.
**Owner decision:** approve performance, framing, pace, wardrobe, pronunciation and final edit.

## 2. Original photography
For any RN-owned garment or field image, record creator, date, location, depicted people, consent/release status, manipulation, caption, alt text and permitted platforms. Do not install recognizable people, private interiors, backstage material or third-party artwork without authority.

## 3. Interviews
Before recording, document the participant’s role, scope of expertise, consent to record, approved uses, name/pronouns, quotation review terms, withdrawal deadline and restrictions. Lived experience is not a substitute for population evidence; expertise is not universal authority.

## 4. Permission requests
For every HOLD or link-only asset desired in publication, request the exact file, intended crop, page, platform, territory, duration and commercial/noncommercial use. Save the grant itself (not silence) as the rights record. If permission is denied or unanswered, keep the canonical link and do not reproduce the asset.

### Current permission state

No permission response is required to publish the web gallery in its current form. The twenty-two Met objects are Public Domain/CC0; the two British Fashion Council videos use YouTube's authorized privacy-enhanced player; papers, courses and other third-party educational records are citations or outbound links only. No paper figure, runway still, soundtrack or third-party recording is copied into the site.

Permission becomes necessary only if production replaces one of those links or authorized players with a copied excerpt, still, track, figure or file. Use this exact request record before doing so:

| Field | Required entry |
|---|---|
| Asset | Exact title, creator, date and canonical record |
| Material requested | Exact file, timestamp, page, figure or excerpt |
| Treatment | Crop, edit, caption, audio treatment and juxtaposition |
| Destinations | Web gallery plus each named social, video, audio or newsletter platform |
| Term and territory | Duration and geographic scope |
| Commercial status | State sponsorship, advertising, affiliate or paid-use context |
| Accessibility | Captioning, transcription and audio-description uses |
| Grant | Written permission, conditions, credit line and expiration |
| Fallback | Authorized embed or canonical outbound link |

## 5. Independent review
- **Scientific reviewer:** every causal verb, population transfer, neuroscience label and “not established” boundary.
- **Fashion/cultural historian:** object context, uniform histories, cultural borrowing and institutional claims.
- **Accessibility reviewer:** captions, transcript, audio description, keyboard order, zoom, contrast and cognitive load.
- **Rights reviewer:** item-level creator, license, permission, caption, credit and platform restriction.

Record reviewer, date, scope, requested corrections, resolution and unresolved disagreement in the version history.

## 6. RN owner-final approval
For each package, approve the canonical essay, gallery sequence, installed media, final audiovisual edit, captions, platform copy, publication date and version. Approval must be explicit; the existence of this packet is not approval.

## 7. External publication
Upload only approved final files. Verify captions, thumbnails, alt text, links and rights after platform processing. Record the live URL and date in publication-register.json, then increment the package version and redeploy the canonical gallery.
